Our Pastor

Elder Phillip A. Bentley serves as senior pastor of Mt. Zion. Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Evanston IL. Pastor Bentley was introduced to and accepted the Lord during his teenage years under the ministry of the late Pastor John W. Groves, who served as a father figure and mentor to Pastor Bentley.

Pastor Bentley was installed as pastor of Mt. Zion Tabernacle church after Pastor Groves’ passing in 2001. He obtained his ministerial certification from Aenon Bible College Indianapolis, as well as certification in other ministerial areas, marital and divorce mediation from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. He is deeply in touch with his community and serves as a chaplain with the Evanston Police Department.  He is a well-known businessman in his community and has assisted many families in the community both spiritually and naturally.

Pastor Bentley is dedicated to all aspects of ministry and has the support of his loving wife Joan I. Bentley. They have been married for over 39 years and are the proud parents of a dynamic adult daughter Dr. Tabitha Bentley;  and two bright granddaughters, Abigail and Estheranna.

Pastor Bentley loves the Lord deeply and has a strong interest in eschatology and the prophetic move of God.  He is committed to preaching the full gospel to all people, offering them hope and renewal in Christ. He is passionate about the word of God and developing disciples of Christ who will allow God to work in their lives by showing of signs, miracles, and wonders.
